How Avalon Gives Works
Because Excalibur PlayHub is a 100% free-to-play social platform, players never pay into community grants. Instead, Excalibur Interactive Studios Ltd funds Avalon Gives directly from our studio operating budget and links our quarterly grant milestones to overall community engagement in the Citadel — including completed seasonal quests and Community Jackpot cycles.
Three Focus Pillars
- Digital Literacy & Accessible Hardware: Donating refurbished workstations and supporting adult digital skills workshops across West Yorkshire community hubs.
- Open-Web & Indie Audio-Visual Craft: Sponsoring local illustrators, WebGL engineers, and interactive sound designers through open workshops in Leeds.
- Healthy Digital Habits Research: Supporting independent educational resources on balanced screen time, transparent game mathematics, and mindful digital recreation.
Recent Yorkshire & UK Community Highlights
Each quarter, our Leeds studio team publishes a summary of community workshops, equipment drives, and mentorship sessions completed by our engineers and designers:
- Leeds City Square Coding Clinics: Monthly evening sessions introducing HTML5 canvas animation, accessibility standards, and modern UI engineering.
- Accessible Interface Audits: Pro-bono WCAG 2.1 AA usability reviews for local non-profit portals and community centres.
- Northern Game Art Micro-Bursaries: Supporting emerging digital artists creating original fantasy and heraldic illustration portfolios.
